The Tweet began with what some would consider a bold statement:
“Trump is a cosmopolitan.”
And then, the Tweeter, Indian-born American far-right political provocateur Dinesh D’Souza, piled on the evidence.
“He went to Wharton, he’s a billionaire, he’s traveled around the world. His critics are poorer, less educated, and many have not left their home states. No wonder he seems like such an alien to them. They view him with hostile incomprehension.”
A TWITTER EXPLOSION BECAUSE OF A TRUMP TWEET THAT PROMINENTLY MENTIONED WHARTON
Predictably, Twitter exploded today (Aug. 7), mostly over Trump’s undergraduate degree from Wharton. Of course, much has been written about the two years he spent at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School after transferring there from Fordham University. Most recently, the president’s niece alleged that a brainy high school friend of Trump’s actually took the SAT for him to get the transfer, a claim denied by the White House.
A former University of Pennsylvania admissions official and Trump family friend, James Nolan, is on the record saying that he received a phone call from Fred Trump Jr. asking him to help his younger brother Donald gain admission to Wharton. Not long after the phone call, Trump arrived at Penn for the interview, accompanied by his father, Fred Trump Sr., who attempted to “ingratiate” himself, Nolan said.
