When it comes to makeup, my motto is simple: Less is more. Just ask that MAC Chestnut Lip Pencil, a color that I’ve been wearing since high school. Or the lip gloss that’s been my go-to product for years. As a loyalist, it sometimes takes a while for me to catch on to something new, which would also explain why I was late to the party when it came to Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line.
I’d been hearing a lot about Fenty Beauty’s Match Stix Shimmer Skinsticks, so when I came across them one day on a trip to my local Sephora, I decided what the hell, and bought two: one in Sinamon and another in Rum.
My first set of Match Stix have a pinkish, bronzy tint with a hint of shine. And it appears that the rumors are true: These sheer nudes really do flatter every skin tone. When I apply them, I streak a color across my cheeks (sometimes eyelids and brow arches too), rub it in with my fingers, and voilà: instant glow. I also like to mix colors together to create more personalized shades. Since my initial purchase, I’ve added the shade Cognac to my stash, which has a golden chestnut color. Next on my shopping list is the glittery, copper-toned Champagne Heist—what can I say, I’m officially obsessed!
I even added the brand’s Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow to the mix to help expand my growing lip gloss collection. Now I get why the brand—and, more specifically, the Match Stix—are so buzzed about. The product’s lightweight, cream-to-powder formula is life.
