Lucy Hale and her blunt bob go way back — all the way to elementary school, in fact. The bangs she used to wear it with? That’s a different story. Over the years, the actor has remained relatively fringe-free, though she did give blunt, shaggy bangs another go for a hot second back in 2016. It’s been a long time, but it looks like Hale is back and ready to experiment again, as evidenced by a March 5 Instagram post that shows off her newest cut.
Hale appears to have gotten the layered curtain bangs that has everyone in a chokehold these days. They’re not nearly as long as Jennifer Lopez’s fringe, but they come close to model Kendall Jenner’s take on the trendy style. Like Jenner’s bangs, Hale’s fall a little bit below her eyebrows and are layered off to the side.
The actor’s longtime hairstylist and colorist, Kristin Ess, is responsible for Hale’s spring hair transformation. Ess has been behind many of the actor’s hairstyles over the years, including her February 2021 golden blonde hue and her short-lived stint with auburn hair.
Demi Lovato, Lilly Collins, and some of her former Pretty Little Liars costars — Ian Harding and Sasha Pieterse — rushed to Hale’s comments section to applaud the new look. Three days after the Instagram posting, Hale’s cut made its red carper debut in Los Angeles at The Little Market’s International Women’s Day event on March 8.
What we love most about these bangs is the effortless, surfer/skater vibe they give us. The genius of the way Ess cut this fringe makes it look cool no matter what you do with it. They’re perfect for someone who may be bang-hesitant but want to give them another go.
