THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN proclaimed on Friday that the election “is not over” and that any projection of challenger Joe Biden securing the White House is “false.”
The defiant statement comes as Biden has pulled ahead in Pennsylvania, where a win would secure the 270 electoral votes the former vice president needs to win the election. Biden also overtook Trump overnight in Georgia. Neither race has yet been called.
“This election is not over. The false projection of Joe Biden as the winner is based on results in four states that are far from final,” Matthew Morgan, a member of Trump’s campaign, said in a statement.
Morgan pointed to Pennsylvania and Georgia as well as Nevada and Arizona as states where President Donald Trump is questioning results. Arizona has been called for Biden by The Associated Press. Nevada remains outstanding, but Biden has a lead there.
“Biden is relying on these states for his phony claim on the White House, but once the election is final, President Trump will be re-elected,” Morgan said.
The statement is consistent with Trump’s attempts to dispute an election that seems to be creeping further from his grasp.
