The COVID-19 outbreak claimed millions of victims. A plummeting GDP, thousands of job displacements, blistering businesses—2020 has been a tumultuous year. Amid the angst, Tarun Tahiliani sees the light. In Behind The Mask, Condé Nast India’s five-part video series that unmasks the private lives of five of India’s leading designers on film, the couturier weighs in on the lessons learnt under lockdown in his New Delhi home for the past four months—the longest haul in the peripatetic designer’s life—and the promising future of fashion.
A multifaceted initiative between Myntra, Vogue India and GQ India, Behind The Mask essays the stories of five creatives conceptualising masks that put the country’s languishing crafts first. Inspired by their works, Chandni Mehta, art director, Architectural Digest created masks that were brought to scale by Myntra. Profits from the sales of these nonnegotiable gear will be extended to seven funds dedicated to ease the economic distress faced by our craft families through the GiveIndia foundation. The series, entirely shot and produced remotely, is slated to air on Myntra, TLC, TLC HD and Discovery+, before it will rest on Vogue.in and Gqindia.com.
