Rue Pierre Charron has gotten a new resident. Kith, the New York retailer beloved by hypebeasts and baes for its cool sneaker collabs, has opened a new store on the buzzy street in the eighth arrondissement of Paris. And to make sure that the new space lives up to its reputation, founder Ronnie Fieg enlisted design company Snarkitecture to help take his vision across the pond.
“We are proud to open the doors to our first European flagship on Rue Pierre Charron, a culmination of many years searching for the perfect space,” Fieg tells BAZAAR.com. “The store is a true reflection of the Kith lifestyle, and we can’t wait for our community in Paris to experience it.”
Occupying three floors and the courtyard of the storied Pershing Hall building, the space is the fifth and largest of Kith’s standalone stores (it also has satellites in Bergdorf Goodman and Selfridges, among others). With every location—most of which were designed by Snarkitecture’s Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen, two artists with an incredible amount of street cred—the design is meant to blend the retailer’s minimalist, urban vibe with elements that reflect the city.
The Paris flagship, for example, features Kith’s signature barrel-vaulted ceiling lined with plaster-cast sneakers; the Air Max 1, in this instance, which pays homage to France’s innovative Pompidou Center. Other highlights include a parlor-style cereal canister wall and a restored Carrara marble staircase, along with a glass-covered courtyard that houses Sadelle’s, the first international outpost of the famed New York restaurant.
It may be some time until fans are able to pack into Kith Paris (the city has lockdown measures in place), but judging by the images, the new location is a worthy addition to Fieg’s stellar stable of stores.
