Grenson Recruits Eckhaus Latta, LABRUM and Phipps for “Future Shoes” Project

Heritage English shoemaker Grenson has partnered with three labels to launch its “Future Shoes” project. Working with Eckhaus Latta, LABRUM and Phipps, the project encompasses three styles from Grenson’s archive, beginning with boots and moving on to loafers and Derbies in 2022.

For its collaborative boot, Eckhaus Latta has taken on the Milo Chelsea boot silhouette, reworking the design with a bright yellow hid and contrasting black spots. LABRUM designer Foday Dumbuya’s project his inspired by his “Sierra Leone heritage and growing up in London and the boot is an amalgamation of how these two worlds collide in terms of culture, community and values.” The LABRUM x Grenson shoe is a remake of the Fred brogue boot, constructed from an antiquated notched leather and a triple leather sole combination.

The third and final boot in the first “Future Shoes” release comes from Spencer Phipps of Phipps, who described his approach as “blending classic taste and Grenson’s expertise with truly innovative fashion in the world of menswear.” Phipps’ shoe is based on a traditional Derby silhouette, which has been transformed into a knee-high boot complete with padding around the calf and a hiking-style lacing system.

All three Grenson boots from the “Future Shoes” project will release on December 15 from Browns. The next two installments of the project are due to arrive early next year.

In other footwear news, adidas Originals has continued its “City Series” by releasing the 1970s Stockholm silhouette.
